23 June 2011 - KURA General Meeting

A general meeting will be held on June 23rd at the Old Dutch Church (Bethan y Hall) at 7 PM. The program is entitled: "$5,000,000 Wasted - by City of Kingston Over-Assessment in 2010" The guest speaker is Robert Beebe, Esq, Former General Counsel to the New York State Board of Equalization and Assessment.

20 April 2010 - KURA General Meeting

A fourth general meeting will be held on April 20th at the Old Dutch Church (Bethany Hall) at 7 PM. Real Estate attorney, Mark Grunblatt, and Member of the Board of Assessment Review, Ken Brett, will discuss "How to Appeal Your Property Assessment."

29 July 2009 - KURA General Meeting

A second general meeting will be held on July 29th at Backstage Productions at 6:30 PM. Don Ryan, Chief Civil Officer, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office will review the Nuisance Abatement Law for those who are not familiar with it and the current status of its implementation. The other speaker will be Paul Ackerman, Assistant Corporation Counsel for Poughkeepsie, who will address a zoning issue that has critical implications for the quality of life of Kingston’s residents.

15 July 2009 - KURA / KUBA Meeting on Uptown Traffic Study

The Kingston Uptown Residence Alliance co-sponsored of an information meeting with the Kingston Uptown Business Association regarding the project that may alter current traffic patterns and intersections in Uptown Kingston. The proposed traffic changes will have a major impact on Uptown residents and business. The meeting was held in the County Office building on July 15. The speaker was Dennis Doyle, Director Ulster County Transportation Council.

23 May 2009 - Annual KURA Spring Cleanup

KURA conducted it's first annual neighborhood clean-up day on Saturday, May 23rd.  Our volunteers worked the entire day to clean up areas of the neighborhood that visibly needed attention.  In addition to cleaning the streets and curbs, we worked in the immediate vicinity of  several rental properties, at the corner of Wall and St. James Streets.  Our clean-up included trimming of vegetation that was encroaching onto the sidewalk and general removal of trash, yard waste and debris. A special thanks to all who helped!

25 February 2009 - General Meeting

In February, KURA held a meeting at the Backstage Studio Productions to learn about the Nuisance Abatement Law. Don Williams, former DA and author of the law, Don Ryan, who coordinates related activities at the Sheriff’s Department, and Police Chief Gerald Keller were the panel that informed the large group of residents that attended the meeting.
